Bambuza Plans Future Development in Downtown Portland
Bids farewell to South Waterfront and Announces Planned Reinvestment Downtown
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Portland, OR - Friday, May 3, 2024 — After 16 years, Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen & Bar prepares to bid farewell to its location at 3682 S Bond Ave in Portland’s South Waterfront, and announces a community-focused celebration honoring the vibrant neighborhood that has supported this location for a decade and a half.
The event marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for parent company Bambuza Hospitality Group and husband-and-wife restaurateurs Daniel Nguyen and Katherine Lam, as their lease in South Waterfront expires and they look to be part of efforts to revitalize downtown Portland.
As the first restaurant to open in the John Ross Building in April, 2008, Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen & Bar has served as a culinary cornerstone of the South Waterfront, offering authentic Vietnamese cuisine to the residents and professionals of this community.
This was also the first Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen & Bar location to open in Portland, and was the inspiration that paved the way for the company’s expansion into airport restaurant development and operations. And as we commemorate the restaurant’s long tenure in this neighborhood, we do so with a renewed commitment to serving our community at large.
"Our family is so grateful for the unwavering support of our customers and friends throughout the years," says Daniel Nguyen. "Even as we finally say goodbye to this location, we’re looking to the future. We’re making plans to deepen our roots, move closer to the heart of downtown Portland, and explore new avenues of culinary innovation."
The closing celebration will take place on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:30pm. Guests can expect an evening filled with light bites, special pours, and opportunities to connect and reminisce. Donations will be welcome in support of the local charity, Second Home, which connects volunteer host homes with unaccompanied high school students experiencing homelessness.
"We invite all members of the Portland community to join us in celebrating the memories we've created together and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead," adds Katherine Lam. "This is not a goodbye, but a 'see you soon' as we continue to evolve and grow within this resilient city."
Portland’s Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen & Bar long-time fans can continue to enjoy authentic family recipes and healthy ingredients at its two locations in Portland International Airport.
